Intelligence of children are formed mainly due to family environment, not because of DHA in breast milk or formula is enriched, according to new research from the University of Southampton (England). Intelligence of the mother is one of the factors that affect the IQ of children.
DHA is a fatty acid of omega-3 group. Animal studies have previously indicated that a lack of concentration of DHA during development of the brain can lead to some problems with brain development position. However, experiments on the effect of infant formula containing DHA in children have shown the opposite.
By Medicalnewstoday, Scientists from the University of Southampton (UK) has tracked 241 children from birth until age 4 up to see the relationship between breastfeeding and use formula milk rich in DHA at birth, the children’s show in tests of intelligence and other aspects of the operation of the brain.
Results showed that DHA does not determine the intelligence of children.
Doctor Catharine Gale, head of research said: “This study disproves some things not true about the effects of DHA. We all know that breast milk has some obvious benefits for health but DHA , although there is naturally in breast milk or added in some kind of formula is not the secret ingredients you can turn children into geniuses Einstein.
As well as doctors, intelligence of children not related to the concentration of DHA they absorb while still infants. Family factors, such as the mother’s intelligence and encouraged the young minds get a new one is important affect children’s intelligence.
